If you're expecting a parenting book filled with charts, studies, and lists of things you're supposed to do before your child turns five, you've picked up the wrong book.
There are already plenty of books like that.
I'm not a child psychologist. I'm not an educator with a wall full of degrees. I'm simply someone who has spent a lifetime watching the world change—sometimes slowly, sometimes overnight—and trying to understand what those changes mean for the people who have to live through them.
In my lifetime, I've watched computers move from science fiction into every home. I've seen the Internet connect the world. I've watched smartphones become extensions of ourselves. And now I'm watching something even bigger unfold.
Artificial intelligence.
I don't believe AI is just another invention. I believe it is one of those rare moments in history that changes the rules of the game.
The question isn't whether we like it.
The question is whether we prepare our children for it.
Too many parents are trying to prepare their children for the world they grew up in instead of the one their children will inherit. That's understandable. It's what every generation has done. We teach what we know because it's familiar. But familiarity isn't the same as preparation.
Many of the jobs our children will have don't exist yet. Many of the skills we thought were essential may become less important, while qualities we've often overlooked—curiosity, adaptability, judgment, integrity, creativity, and the ability to keep learning—may become priceless.
I don't pretend to have all the answers.
In fact, I hope this book gives you more questions than answers.
Because the parents who ask questions, who keep learning, who are willing to change their minds, are the ones most likely to raise children who can thrive in an uncertain future.
This book isn't about replacing schools. It isn't about promoting homeschooling over public schools, or AI over teachers. It's about keeping an open mind. It's about looking at every tool available and asking a simple question:
"Will this better prepare my child for the world they are actually going to live in?"
Sometimes the answer will be yes.
Sometimes it will be no.
But it should always be a conscious decision—not one made simply because "that's how we've always done it."
If there's one lesson I've learned from business, technology, and life, it's this:
The world doesn't ask our permission before it changes.
It just changes.
The people who succeed are rarely the ones who resist every change. They're the ones who understand it, adapt to it, and use it wisely.
That's my hope for every child.
Not that they'll grow up to use artificial intelligence.
But that they'll grow up intelligent enough to know when to use it… and when not to.

Introduction
Imagine for a moment that you could go back one hundred years.
You find a bright, hardworking twelve-year-old in 1926 and tell him that one day nearly everyone will carry a device in their pocket that contains more knowledge than the greatest libraries in the world. It will let him speak instantly to people on the other side of the planet. It will translate languages, navigate roads, play music, teach mathematics, record videos, and answer almost any question within seconds.
He would think you were describing magic.
Now imagine someone from the year 2126 visiting us today.
Would we understand the world they describe any better?
Probably not.
That thought keeps me humble.
Whenever people confidently predict the future, they're usually wrong. Not because they're unintelligent, but because change has a way of surprising us. The future almost never arrives the way we expected.
When I was young, adults worried that calculators would make children bad at math. Then computers arrived. Then the Internet. Then smartphones. Every invention sparked fear, excitement, and endless debates about what it would do to society.
Artificial intelligence is different.
Not because it is the first technology to change the world, but because it has the potential to change almost everything at once.
For the first time in history, our children are growing up with something that can answer questions, explain ideas, write stories, create artwork, solve problems, and even act as a personal tutor. Whether we like it or not, AI will become part of their education, their careers, and their daily lives.
The question isn't whether our children will use AI.
They will.
The real question is whether they will know how to use it wisely.

There is no perfect educational system because there are no perfect children. Every child learns differently. Every family has different resources, different values, and different goals.
My purpose is much simpler.
I want parents to think.
I want them to question whether the educational path they are following is truly preparing their children for the future—or simply repeating the past.
We'll talk about schools, homeschooling, microschools, AI tutors, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, curiosity, critical thinking, and the habits that will matter long after today's technology has been replaced by tomorrow's.

When I was growing up, life was fairly straightforward.
You went to school. You studied hard. You got good grades. You went to college—or learned a trade—found a good job, worked hard, and hopefully retired someday with enough money to enjoy the rest of your life.
It wasn’t a perfect system, but it made sense.
If you were willing to work harder than the next person, learn more, and keep your nose clean, you usually had a good chance of succeeding.
That world is disappearing.
Not overnight. Not everywhere. But it’s changing faster than most people realize.
For centuries, people competed against other people.
The fastest runner.
The smartest student.
The best engineer.
The best writer.
The best accountant.
The best artist.

There has never been a better time in human history to become successful.
Think about it.
Right now, sitting in your pocket is a device that gives you instant access to more knowledge than the greatest universities, the largest libraries, and many governments had access to just a generation ago.
When I was a young entrepreneur in my early twenties, I reached a point where money wasn’t my biggest limitation anymore.
Time was. Knowledge was. Credibility was.
Like many ambitious business owners, I was tempted by the prestige of an Executive MBA. I enrolled in a Master’s program in International Business at Florida International University. I genuinely enjoyed the classes, and the professors were intelligent people.
But after only a few courses, something became obvious.
Most of what I was learning came from people who had spent their careers studying business—not building businesses.
There is tremendous value in academic knowledge, but I needed practical knowledge. I wanted to learn from people who had made payroll, negotiated contracts, survived recessions, raised capital, lost companies, and built them again.
I realized I wasn’t buying an education. I was buying a credential.
For me, that wasn’t worth the investment.
The tuition mattered, but the real cost was time. Two evenings each week became homework, research, and projects. Back then, research meant spending hours digging through books and journals. Finding answers was slow and expensive.
Today?
You can ask an AI assistant, search the internet, watch lectures from world-class experts, read biographies of great entrepreneurs, analyze financial statements, study marketing campaigns, compare business models, and even simulate business decisions—all within minutes.
Much of it is free. Think about what that means.
Today, the average entrepreneur has access to information that intelligence agencies, Fortune 500 companies, and elite universities would have struggled to assemble just 10 or 15 years ago.

Children need to struggle with difficult ideas. They need to make mistakes, revise their work, and wrestle with problems that don’t have obvious answers. That struggle is where understanding is built. If AI does all the intellectual heavy lifting, it may produce better homework—but weaker thinkers.
The goal of education has never been to produce correct answers.
The goal has always been to produce capable people.
Parents and teachers should think of AI the same way they think about nutrition. A healthy diet strengthens the body. Junk food satisfies an immediate craving while weakening long-term health.
AI can be intellectual nutrition—or intellectual junk food.
The difference isn’t the technology.
It’s how we use it.
The children who will thrive in the AI era won’t be the ones who rely on AI for every answer. They’ll be the ones who use AI to ask better questions, explore bigger ideas, and learn faster than ever before.
The future belongs not to those who let AI think for them, but to those who learn to think alongside it.

I simply change it. By the third iteration, it’s better.
By the fifth iteration, it’s exactly what I need.

Not merely open-source software. Not merely free software.
But fix-as-you-go software. Software that evolves with you.
Software that can be reshaped every time your needs change.

Parenting - Raising Tough Kids in a Tougher World

Being a good parent is about the hardest job you’ll ever love, but don’t let the poets fool you—it’s not all sunshine and sweet laughter. It’s part love, part discipline, part endurance, and a healthy dose of hoping you don’t ruin the poor kid entirely.

Consistency and Boundaries -Children are like rivers—they need banks to keep from flooding everything in sight. Set your rules, stick to ’em, and make sure they know the “why” behind every “no.” They may not thank you now, but they’ll appreciate it when they’re not floating in a sea of bad decisions.
Lead by Example – Want them to be honest? Don’t lie. Want them to be kind? Don’t yell at the waiter. Kids are expert mimics—they’ll follow your example, not your advice.
Encourage Independence- Let them climb the tree and risk a fall. Let them cook the meal and burn the toast. Let them figure things out, even when you’re dying to swoop in and fix it. Confidence comes from trying, failing, and trying again.
Be Present – No child ever grew up happy on a diet of “later” and “not now.” Play catch, read books, build ridiculous blanket forts. These moments are the mortar that holds the bricks of life together.
Foster a Growth Mindset –Don’t just tell them they’re smart—tell them they’re persistent, curious, and creative. Smarts fade when the going gets tough, but grit keeps the engine running.
Support Their Passions – If they want to be a rock star or a bug collector, don’t laugh—help them tune the guitar or find the magnifying glass. A passionless life is like soup without salt: bland and not worth the trouble.
Teach Empathy and Respect – If they don’t learn to see the world through someone else’s eyes, they’ll trip over their own self-importance. Empathy is the bridge between toughness and kindness.
Adapt to Their Needs – A stubborn child isn’t the same as a shy one, and a five-year-old isn’t the same creature as a fifteen-year-old. Parenting means changing your tune while keeping the melody the same.
Being a Good Father – Now, if you’re the father, the world expects you to be part knight, part guide, and part handyman. Here’s the twist: a good father is just a good parent with a little extra emphasis on teaching toughness, respect, and a healthy sense of humor.
Teach Them to Stand Tall – Show them how to fight for what’s right and walk away from what’s wrong. Toughness ain’t about swinging fists—it’s about knowing when to swing and when to hold back.
Be the Safety Net – They’ll jump higher when they know you’re there to catch them—or at least patch them up when they hit the ground.
Pass On Practical Skills – Teach them to fix a leak, bait a hook, and balance a checkbook. Life throws curveballs, and they’ll need every tool you give them.
Build Bonds Through Adventure – Go fishing, camping, or just skip stones at the creek. These are the moments they’ll carry long after you’re gone.
Show Respect – Treat their mother (and everyone else) with respect. They’re always watching, and your actions will echo in how they treat others.
At the heart of it, being a parent—or a father—is about doing your best, messing up plenty, and hoping your kids end up decent despite it all. And if they do, you’ll know you’ve succeeded when they walk into the world with a smile, a backbone, and maybe a little bit of your laughing.
