DAY. 30 – Don’t Wait for

“the Perfect Time”—

It Will Never Come

“Twenty years from now, you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” – Mark Twain

Don’t Wait for the “Perfect Time”—It Will Never Come

There will always be excuses, obstacles, and reasons to delay. If you wait for the perfect moment, you may never take that first step. The truth is, perfection is an illusion, and waiting for it only leads to stagnation.

“Do not wait to strike till the iron is hot, but make it hot by striking.” – William Butler Yeats

The best time to take action is now. Start where you are, use what you have, and figure things out as you go. Progress, no matter how small, is always better than waiting for an ideal scenario that may never arrive.

“You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.” – Zig Ziglar

There will never be a perfect time to get married, have kids, invest, buy a house, or take that big step you’ve been contemplating. Sure, you have to make decisions when they make sense, and yes, you should optimize things, but don’t fall into the trap of analysis paralysis. No time will ever be perfect, so take action when the opportunity arises.

How Do You Know When It’s the Right Time?

  1. You’ve Done Enough Research (But Aren’t Stuck in It) – You understand the basics, the risks, and the potential outcomes, but you’re not endlessly analyzing or waiting for certainty.
  2. You Feel Uncomfortable, But Excited – Big decisions often come with fear, but if there’s also excitement and a feeling that it’s something you truly want, it’s a good sign to move forward.
  3. You Can Manage the Worst-Case Scenario – If you’ve thought through the risks and know you can handle setbacks, you’re in a good position to take the leap.
  4. You Keep Thinking About It – If a decision lingers in your mind and keeps coming back, it’s often a sign that you’re ready to take action.
  5. Opportunities Are Passing You By – If you’ve been waiting for the “right time” and realize you’re missing chances, that’s a signal that it’s time to act.
  6. Others Are Doing It with Less Preparation – If you see people succeeding despite having fewer resources or less knowledge than you, it’s a sign that readiness is more about action than perfection.

“A year from now you may wish you had started today.” – Karen Lamb

Life is unpredictable, and challenges will always exist. But growth happens when you step forward despite uncertainty. The most successful people didn’t wait until they had everything perfectly aligned; they took the leap, made adjustments along the way, and kept moving forward.

“The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing.” – Walt Disney

So stop waiting. Start today. Take that first step, embrace imperfection, and create momentum. The sooner you start, the sooner you’ll get to where you want to be.
