Everything I Learned About Women, I Learned From a Cat

Posted on

Well, not really — but it’s a good title.

See, cats and women have mastered the same ancient art: getting what they want without ever asking for it directly. They’ve got subtlety down to a science — or maybe it’s an instinct. Either way, they’ve been running the show since before we figured out how to work the remote.

They want attention — but not too much. If you come on strong, they scatter. If you play it cool, they saunter back like it was their idea all along. It’s not manipulation; it’s just… nature. You wouldn’t blame gravity for pulling things down, would you?

They like to cuddle — usually in the middle of the night when you’re half-asleep and pinned in place like a hostage to affection. But don’t move. Don’t breathe too loud. That moment of warmth is sacred… until they decide it’s over and vanish without explanation.

They love to be entertained. Boredom is the real enemy. You can’t just sit still and expect to hold their attention. You have to sparkle a little — not too much, just enough mystery to keep them curious. Because once they figure you out, you go from “fascinating creature” to “background furniture.”

And jealousy — oh, it’s there. Sometimes it’s loud and dramatic; other times, it’s the silent treatment that could make a monk confess to crimes he didn’t commit. But let’s be honest: we kind of like it. It means they care. It means we matter.

Here’s the paradox: both women and cats want independence and connection at the same time. They want love without cages, attention without possession, freedom with affection. And maybe that’s not confusing — maybe that’s just balance.

Because once you earn their trust, they’ll show you something pure — that quiet, unspoken loyalty that asks for nothing and gives everything in return.

So no, I didn’t really learn everything about women from a cat. But I did learn this: love works best when you stop trying to control it.

And sometimes, late at night, when the house is quiet and everyone’s asleep, I catch the cat watching me. And I can’t help but wonder — what do they think about us?
