If the entrance is huge, followed by another huge room, followed by another huge room, there is no contrast.
Everything is grand.
Therefore nothing feels particularly grand.
Architecture becomes more interesting when spaces compress and expand.
A narrower entrance can open into a larger living room.
A darker hallway can terminate at a wall of daylight.
A partially concealed garden can suddenly become visible.
