Religion, God and mankind…. Truths, half-truths and lies…

Thoughts to ponder from a very favorite song. Whether you agree or not… Imagine for a moment then lets discuss.

IMAGINE

Imagine there’s no heaven
It’s easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today

Imagine there’s no country
It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion, too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if we can
No need for greed, no hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world

You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will live as one

So did God create Religion for his benefit or ours? There are many myriads of religions, Christian and Non-Christian alike. Obviously one God did not create so many religions.
So which God created which religions?

Obviously, people create religions. For what reason?
To control others, people have always want to tell others how to run their lives.
Religions have one thing in common, they all tell you what you can and can’t do.
They all have punishments and rewards systems, heaven and hell, or something like it.

People judge their morals and values by what there religion teach them. Would it surprise you that many of the things that one considers taboo in our religions are considered normal in others. Many religion defend murder to protect the faith, others tell you what you can eat or do during different times of day. Others restrict you to one wife or three, or require you to get a blessing before a change in marital status. Others disallow everything, but there own rules are just a set of traditions.

Human Beings require some form of order, and since most people lack order and structure in their lives they look to some outside force, order and regulations to give them this order. People are afraid of real freedom and are tied to rules, families, and community.

This sense of association give peoples a feeling of belonging, but similarly to a dog, they used this feeling to mark their territory- real or ideologically and defend it to the death.

So religion, like the many things that we believe to be our own, becomes a bone of contention, a source of much fighting and wars.

Would there be any wars if there was one religion, one nation, one community? I guess we can only imagine.
