Life is nothing but transitions.
From baby to child, child to teenager, teenager to adult—and then several versions of yourself after that.
You don’t notice them at first. One day you’re small, then you’re not. One day you’re being guided, then you’re expected to know the way. You become many versions of yourself—some you love, some you barely recognize. Companies and Careers change. Relationships change. Even the world shifts beneath your feet. You don’t ask for it. It just happens. Change is not a phase you pass through; it is the permanent condition.
Moments pass like tears in the rain. They fall, they vanish, and no one can catch them. We all die, and even the memories we swear we’ll never lose soften with time. Faces blur. Voices fade. Names grow quiet. It hurts because it mattered.
But life does not disappear. It transforms. What you loved does not evaporate into nothing. We are more than flesh, more than breath, more than the brief spark between birth and silence. Something of us continues—changed, unseen, but not erased – perhaps just recycled.
You cannot stop transitions. You cannot hold time still or beg it to stay. Fighting it only deepens the wound. The only mercy is learning how to cross—slowly, honestly, with meaning. To let go without becoming empty.
So we choose to believe there is more beyond the fading. Not an endless sleep, but a rest that opens its eyes. Not a final goodbye, but a crossing. A love that remembers us when memory itself can no longer hold on. A love that gathers what mattered and carries it forward, patiently, into eternity.
That is life.
A series of goodbyes wrapped in hope.
A quiet faith that nothing truly loved is ever lost.
The photo of the rain-soaked spider web has nothing to do with the piece above. I simply noticed it the other day and it made me think about the spider itself—quietly rebuilding, adapting, and enduring—while my sprinklers repeatedly turned its careful work into a small daily hardship. Such is life – I am sure he is wonder why life is so tough.
